STAKEHOLDERS
Communities depend on the Kadalundi -Vallikkunnu Community Reserve are mainly from three islands
viz.Balathuruthy (110 families) Ceepee thuruthy (30 families) and Cheriya thuruthy/ Kakkathuruthy (65 families). In addition to this, people living outside, along the boundaries within 200 metres of the Community Reserve in both panchayaths, ie, Kadalundi and Vallikkunnu panchayaths are also included as dependent communities (1000 families ) are stakeholders of KVCR.
Local Reserve Development Committee (LRDC)
As a part of implementing Eco- development / participatory Forest Management initiative a total of 5 local Reserve Development Committees (LRDC) have formed. The Local Reserve Development Committees consist of the dependent communities in the zone of influence of KVCR and prepared micro plan for LRDCs.
Each LRDC has 9 members including its Chairman for its executive committee and a Secretary from Forest department. The names of LRDCs are Balathuruthy , Keezhayil, Herose Nagar, Kunnamthuruthy and Pilakkat.
